Hi mods! I understand that characters with little background information can be apped according to the FAQ, but does that also apply to characters from ongoing series who just haven't had their backstories revealed in canon yet? Or does it only apply to characters from completed canons (who are likely to never receive official backgrounds?)

I totally understand if the former type of character isn't allowed, and I'm not really expecting it to be, but I just wanted to check!

And on a related note, alternatively, could characters from ongoing canons who haven't had their backstories revealed yet be given player-created backgrounds and apped as a fandom AU, or are fandom AUs only for "popular" AUs that already exist in the fandom?? I'm not exactly sure about what types of AUs are allowed.
