Polymythos is a check-in only game and has no requirements to make the monthly activity check beyond checking in. While there are opportunities each month to earn points that can be exchanged for in-game rewards, the game has no minimum requirement for its players beyond an interest in and eagerness to remain in the game.

Check-in runs from the 1st to the 7th each month. Because Polymythos is meant to be a casual gaming experience, there is no strike system and the mods will not be providing warnings; failure to check in will result in your character's removal from the game. Players on hiatus are not required to check-in.

Because the game discourages squatting, we would like to remind players that while AC is check-in only, failure to provide adequate proof that a character is making progress or forming connections (read: interacting with the game at large) leaves characters at risk of being removed from the game. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact the mod team.

THE POINTS SYSTEM

The (optional, but who doesn't want REWARDS?) point system is meant to encourage activity, community building, and character growth. Each month players have an opportunity to submit posts, top-levels, and threads in exchange for points as well as earn bonus points for threads they feel are significant. (e.g., threads where characters show evidence of growth, threads with new characters/players, etc.)

Earning points:

[July]: David arrived in the PM setting, and during this time he came to meet and form connections with a number of people. In the mean time he was privately nursing his own recent traumas and dark secrets, both from his life in MoM and back home. He attempted to help the child 'captured' by the Mantises, only to find the situation already addressed by others. He also started trying to cook for others to calm himself. Ultimately, upon hearing that the Oracle might have answers for them, he prepared an offering of his own blood for her in return for answering a question of whether he might be able to regain his most precious memories. When he got an affirmative he had a small (though joyful) emotional breakdown. He has resolved, with Jean-Paul's help, to try and solve the question of how to regain his memories. No ScryWatch change.

[August]: David spent a lot of time in August trying to process through the traumas of his world before coming here. He went out of his way to confront Jean-Paul on their shared knowledge, something he had feared doing. Meanwhile he tried to prepare himself for moving on to another island as he's been told will be coming up by trying to make himself a nice caffeinated tea through trading with locals. He's tried to make peace with Quentin Quire and ask the other for training in what is now shared power styles, and basically declared Carter one of his best friends. Is starting to get to know other people, but hasn't made a lot of progress on getting his own shit together, beyond finally letting himself cry.

[October]: David did his best not to engage with the stranger parts of the carnival in the month of October, instead choosing to fall back on more interaction with his friends and learning more about them. He very much strengthened his friendships with Kyle and Carter, felt that he started to make headway with Loki and Sephiroth by giving the former a gift and teaching the latter to ride horses, and even started hanging out with Deadpool, making the guy a stuffed animal bandolier. He even struck a tacit sort of peace with Quire who he hates back home. The most interesting growth he had was learning of the arrival of Molly of the Runaways, a girl he has decided to look out for, and in doing so he is starting to redevelop some of those older brother instincts. There was also an encounter with Chloe Decker, who talked to David about Lucifer in her world, helping him quietly realize that even someone so normally seen as evil and corrupt truly could begin to forgive and redeem themselves, so why couldn't he? But for every step forward (and there were more than those above), there are steps backward, and this month that was found in the arms of Jean-Paul. Literally. There's his boss, somehow mystically regressed in age, and David absolutely slept with the guy. He's sorta been hiding out from the other guy ever since because, well, he's scared of what fallout will come from Jean-Paul returning to his proper age.

[October]: David spent October doing two major things: trying to ignore what he did in September, and making more bad (cotton candy fueled) mistakes. Mostly he did his best to avoid the rides thinking they would be the best way to make mistakes, and instead ended up making out with Sephiroth and Hawks, which just proved why he needed to perhaps be more cautious about time with other people alone. Meanwhile he worked very hard to ignore the things he got up to with Jean-Paul, afraid his boss would hate him. Eventually this came to a head when the two ran into each other, and it nearly turned into an argument. At last David admitted to himself that he was being a little idiot (yay growth) about maturity, and he should stop acting like he's the only one who has been through some messed up stuff recently. In part this realization came about because of the continued good influence in his life of his now absolutely best friends Carter and Kyle. With this support network he might finally be able to make progress forward, provided he stops getting himself into stupid new situations. So maybe one step forward, two steps back.

]November]: November was a month of exploration for David. In the mall he was very leery of the place, and he felt like he wasn't getting any progress. In fact, he took further steps backward, but not quite enough to dip into orange. Yet. While he did some heroics in helping Sephiroth get out of a car, he got into rather serious fights with Loki and Roxy, the former over memories, the latter over her relationships which frankly wasn't his business at all. He's also starting to question whether they are really themselves while they are here, or if they are copies of their original selves. Growth doesn't seem to be something he's really making, but rather he's stagnating and he doesn't know what to do with that fact. How does he get better when he doesn't know what better is? David has also started with the idea of searching actively for his memories as the Oracle said might happen.

December: David spent a lot of time in December pining for figure skating. A lot of people tried to get him back into his favorite sport, though only Jean-Paul and Roxy gave him hope to get back to his love. On the negative side of things his hostility with Loki only seemed to ramp up over the use of figure skates, and it kept David (just barely and he doesn't know it) from sneaking into the Green at last. And, of course, David was forced to confront the idea that maybe he needs to actually TALK ABOUT FEELINGS with Hawks. Oops.

[January]: David tried to go under the radar in January, as the setting truly made him worried. That said, he did have some major advances in working on developing his energy projection powers by going grave robbing with Quentin Quire, which was often a test of split focus to help him develop his powers. He also learned some of Jean-Paul's secrets at a seance, helped Carter save a woman from being murdered, and started to address his feelings for Hawks.

[February]: David needed to unwind from stress this month and so he mostly stayed out of the way. He did a lot of cooking, putting almost all the funds he received into buying supplies. The food he cooked was offered out to any of the travelers, but extras he gave to the poor and suffering in the city.

March: Early in the month David went to try and figure out what was going on with the abandoned space station. His initial attempts involved basic hacking, but when this did not yield desired results, he found himself instead delving into MUTHER's systems with technopathy. While he did come out with some information, the AI lashing out left him incapacitated for a while, and tended to by his boyfriend. When he came back to himself, he started trying to share information with everyone via the links, only to be blocked a few times before finally getting the information out. Beyond this, before he got knocked out, he spent time trying to save people from their own fears, including Loki and Kyle, and connecting with friends like Roxy.
