Activity Check-in

Activity Check-in

Polymythos is a check-in only game and has no requirements to make the monthly activity check beyond checking in. While there are opportunities each month to earn points that can be exchanged for in-game rewards, the game has no minimum requirement for its players beyond an interest in and eagerness to remain in the game.

Check-in runs from the 1st to the 7th each month. Because Polymythos is meant to be a casual gaming experience, there is no strike system and the mods will not be providing warnings; failure to check in will result in your character's removal from the game. Players on hiatus are not required to check-in.

Because the game discourages squatting, we would like to remind players that while AC is check-in only, failure to provide adequate proof that a character is making progress or forming connections (read: interacting with the game at large) leaves characters at risk of being removed from the game. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact the mod team.

THE POINTS SYSTEM

The (optional, but who doesn't want REWARDS?) point system is meant to encourage activity, community building, and character growth. Each month players have an opportunity to submit posts, top-levels, and threads in exchange for points as well as earn bonus points for threads they feel are significant. (e.g., threads where characters show evidence of growth, threads with new characters/players, etc.)

Earning points:
Top-level or post: 10 points
Network threads: 5 per thread
Log threads: 10 per thread
One per month:
Tag a new person: 5 points
Character growth: 5 points
ScryWatch Color Change: 5 points
(Scrywatch color MUST be previously established.)

Please fill out the form for each month and post using the sample format provided below:

JULY: Gideon began the month convinced she and everyone else was dead. That was most upsetting because Harrow was here, and Harrow's not allowed to be dead. Or stay dead. The island relieved some of her guilt over people dying, and she spent the month making new friends, eating, not eating very much (re: feeding: Oracle, friends, mantises), and wondering about the dead thing. The Oracle's answer has confused her and still needs to be worked out, but it's given her hope that Harrow maybe possibly could end up alive again.

SEPTEMBER: Gideon underwent personal growth at the House of Mirrors, with all the different versions of herself that she saw. Namely, Harrow's nickname Griddle was what referred to them all because Harrow knows each and every side of her. She couldn't explain it well to Sephiroth, but she got that niggling feeling and recognized the mirror versions as true. Then she regressed to eleven years old and was a shitty pre-teen. Young!Gideon was fresh and raw in the trauma and (unwarranted) guilt around the deaths of Harrow's parents. She didn't grow much in that state, but she was treated differently, like a person/kid, in a way that would have let her grow had it stayed longer.

*didn't do points stuff for August due to no internet. Though honestly, impressed with how much I did in September given I had no internet for the entire month.

OCTOBER: Gideon stewed in her feelings. The tattoo of her sword, in particular, revealed tiny bits and snippets of forgotten memories during her time inhabiting the back of Harrow's skull. They're still mostly confusing and unclear (beyond Harrow does not know or know how to take care of swords), but it raises the fact that there are memories from that time. Something she hadn't remembered/realized and isn't sure how she feels about. The Ninth House/Gideon skull was easier if bittersweet with its memories--those times Gideon owned being from the Ninth House.

NOVEMBER: Retail therapy. (Not that shopping will make things better, though Gideon is very much up on 'you never know when you'll get a chance for x again' and did stock up). Gideon's always known that people can (and often are) assholes, and she's stubbornly stood on her own side when it never felt like anyone else would at the Ninth House. Despite all that, Gideon only learned the revelations behind everyone's treatment of her in the Canaan House mad dash toward, in the end, an iron fence. There wasn't processing time. Past and present, sometimes people are shit and it's not her fault came to a head. The mannequins forced her face to face with those who treated her poorly at the Ninth for the crime of not dying. The Black Friday rush forced her to face she couldn't do anything about it (and it's not her fault; sometimes you can't). It's not a fun realization, but it's chipping away at the guilt and responsibility she's claimed when she shouldn't have.

DECEMBER: Despite learning she cannot always help or always win or always make a difference, Gideon still continued to try to help people. At the end of the day, people being people is all it takes. Still, Santa confirmed that she has been a good person, an external validation that forms the building blocks of believing it from the inside out (for all Gideon made the argument, presented the case, it wasn't entirely with the belief it would be accepted or should). Oh, and it gave her the one thing she will always advocate on her own behalf for--her sword. Quit wrapping swords in bone #2022, Harrow

January 2022 | Green

JANUARY: Gideon's world continues to expand across settings, which raises whole new ways to think about good or bad etc. Such as, with dinosaurs, the difference between a large dangerous animal and... predatory constructs. That said, the issue of not laying over and dying complicates things, so the balance between environments/animals/cultures and people is in the works. This is, after all, an adventure in traveling from place to place that isn't her own. She doesn't have it worked out yet.

February 2022 | Green

FEBRUARY: This month, Gideon explored (mentally) the dynamics of the Ancient, choices, and what that all means (or can mean). There was a lot of ground already understood: the islands, the events, the choices they all have to make; it is coerced; it's purposely placed in front of them, and they don't fully understand who/what the locals are (Gideon opts for treat them like people unless proven otherwise). Discussions around that coercion and their choices with both Chloe and Sephiroth revealed the biggest secret--Gideon's not taken the most obstinate path of refusal. Which she recognizes might partly come from the Ancient being able to read her (thanks for showing that off with the mummy btw); even so, it's worth it. For Harrow's sake. And for agency. It's a more meta level of analysis, but it's shown how far she's come.
